ACARD Enters the Blu-Ray Age

ACARD Technology, the leader in advanced storage solutions technology, recently announced the launch of its SATA Blu-Ray/HD-DVD optical drive backup controller. Advances in technology have seen a corresponding increase in data capacity as well. The emergence of blue laser technology means that capacities of 4.7GB are no longer adequate and in the future, the demand for optical storage will be met by next-generation blue laser based devices.

ACARD has therefore applied its many years of experience in data backup technology and combined it with the Blu-Ray technology now gaining broad acceptance in the market. By using a custom RISC processor, ACARD allows a high-speed Blu-Ray/DVD/CD burner to be used as a stand-alone data backup system. Support for SATA Blu-Ray or SATA DVD burners that make up the mainstream market today means that your need for capacity and quality in data backups can both be met.

Let ACARD show you the way to the Blu-Ray Age of high storage capacities! For more information please contact ACARD Technology (www.acard.com)

ACARD Releases World’s First Multi-Purpose Storage Interface Bridge

-- Making Data Transfers Easy for the Latest Portable Digital Devices

The storage chipset and hardware specialist ACARD Technology today released an interface conversion device that allows storage devices using different interfaces to transfer data between each other easily and efficiently. By connecting a device to the USB or eSATA interface on the ARS-2200 Bridge Smart Pro, users can transfer or backup any important data to another device. This interface bridge offers the following features:

  • Built-in ACARD USB/eSATA to SATA & IDE controller chip
  • Support for USB2.0 or eSATA connections to the PC
  • Can be connected to SATA and IDE hard disks or optical drives
  • LED indicators that show the IDE/SATA device access status
  • Thoughtful OTB (one Touch Backup) button design that supports USB backup at the press of a button
  • Can be used with eSBR (Easy Storage, Easy Backup, Easy Recovery) application

Offers connectors for 2.5”, 3.5” and 5.25” drives with fool-proof installation.

It’s the perfect solution for transferring data between PC, notebook and portable devices.

The ARS-2200 Smart Bridge Pro is the first dual-interface product on the market to support USB and eSATA. It allows users to easily connect devices (such as hard disks or optical drives) with different interfaces. It is particularly handy for engineers that often have to simultaneously use 2.5”/3.5" hard disks or 5.25” devices for testing hard disks and computer systems as devices can be quickly installed or replaced. They can then be connected using the appropriate IDE or SATA interface without having to open up the external disk enclosure. The USB or eSATA interface are also easy to use, allowing the devices connected to the ARS-2200 Smart Bridge Pro to quickly set up in the computer without having to reboot.

For PC or MAC systems it can be treated as an external storage device for transferring data suitable for general enthusiasts with basic system assembly knowledge, home users, MIS and support engineers. Due to the product’s ease of use, it can be used at home, work or on the move to securely transfer, store and backup your critical digital assets or share your personal digital photos, music and videos. If used with a CD/DVD burner device and the Ha! DVD burner software, users can easily backup their critical data to optical discs. This makes it the perfect tool for transferring data between different hardware interfaces no matter what kind of IT lifestyle you lead.

The ARS-2200 Smart Bridge Pro uses a single chip design based on the USB/eSATA to SATA or IDE controller chip developed by ACARD that allows data to flow freely between connected devices. When used with the eSBR software, users can use the OTB backup button to access the familiar built-in Windows 2000/XP/Vista backup application and easily backup their data. The product offers excellent compatibility allowing it to connect most hard disks and optical drives on the market to the computer through the USB or eSATA interface. In terms of its external appearance, the ARS-2200 Smart Bridge Pro's minimalist design and trendy styling will make you the envy of other users. ACARD’s many years of experience in storage solution design and mature technologies also mean that its products offer the stability and compatibility that consumers have come to rely on.

Knowledge
Purchasing an External USB Optical Drive Enclosure
USB is now one of the most popular interfaces in use for external storage. Most prospective users intend to use it with their hard drives and look at the appearance, heat dissipation design, power supply quality and price. If using it with an optical drive, users must be sure of selecting the right chip as this is critical for compatibility with optical drives. For chip designers, optical drive compatibility is far more difficult to achieve than for hard disks. Chips with poor compatibility not only make it difficult to buy an optical drive – for consumers, there’s no greater headache than the potential for a disc to not burn properly or to be unreadable. Users should therefore always ask the vendor for an optical drive compatibility list to avoid buying a USB optical drive that may have potential problems.

User A:

As a sales, I have to carry my notebook with me to everywhere of customer sites. I've stored all data in the notebook. Recently, I am running out of the space of the internal hard drive. Also I am really worry about if I'll lose all the important data due to hard disk crashed. I've searched the market to find an external storage to store my data. But they are too huge to me to carry out. Thus I am wondering if you guys know where to find a storage with 2.5" hard drives and USB interface. So I can easily plug it to my notebook for data backup.

User B:

I am a sales, too. And I recently bought a ASUS Eee PC because it is really small and convenient to carry out especially for a girl like me. But... It was designed with only 4/8 GB capacity of SDD drive. After installing an OS, I can't almost store any data in my Eee PC. So I really need an external storage of higher disk capacity to storage all my data, disk mirroring to protect my important data from disk crash and the most important thing is it has to be small to carry out. A friend of mine told me that ACARD recently published an external storage solution called ARS-2212 Digital Treasure Stor. which is the exact product I am looking for. And I think it might be a good product for you, too.
ACARD:
ARS-2212 Mirror Smart Mini is the Digital Treasure Stor. which could protect important data by data redundancy. It adopts 2.5" SATA hard disk drive that is the first slim style Mirror device in the world. User will find it is user-friendly and easy to use through the USB interface. It could plug and play immediately loads ARS-2212 Mirror Smart Mini in the computer without rebooting. It is suitable for general consumer such as personal, student or office worker who is at home or in office or on the run. In particular, ARS-2212 is the best storage solution for Notebook users, so we call it "Notebook Mate".

Features:
Slim type USB to SATA RAID 1 subsystem
Supports USB 2.0 for easy plug and play
OTB (One Touch Backup) Hot key supports data backup via USB interface*
*Cooperate with backup software
Specifications:
LED indicators show HDD/RAID status
